They Say/I Say: Chapter 1

The article I found was printed in the January 30 edition of the Duluth News Tribune. I found it in the opinion section, so not all of it may be factual information. However, the author does a good job of introducing the point he is arguing, so I found it acceptable to use.
The author, Phil Fitzpatrick begins his piece by saying "The president was painted with such broad strokes in the Jan. 23 letter, 'Obama and his evil ego move US toward socialism,'  it was hard to take the letter seriously." By introducing the article in this way, Fitzpatrick used the template for introducing what "They Say."
He introduces the point he is against, and then goes into his article, talking of how the author of the previous letter is wrong. As he goes through his article, he also does what the book says on page 27 and keeps "what they say" in view. In the second paragraph, he argues against the previous author's use of the word "evil." In the fourth paragraph, Fitzpatrick then argues against the author's "careless use of the word 'socialism.'" Even though his article is mostly opinion, Fitzpatrick still uses a bit of fact hinting at an issue with "the so-called 1 percent" shouldering "a bit more of the tax burden."
Fitzpatrick did a good job with his article. He started it by tying in the opposing quote right away to grab the audience's attention. He followed the use of the quote with his response and did so quickly and continually throughout the article.
